We're looking for bass player!!!
(Warchild, Band, 13.04.2011)

It's really painful for us to announce that our bass player Charlie had to leave the band for the sake of health issues. We thank him very much for his time he dedicated to the band and wish him all the best to the future.

As a result we're looking for a new bass player. He should be skilled player, should be reliable and good fellow. We're from Rakovnik (CZ), so he should live somewhere near. If you'd like to give it a try or you know somebody, please contact aleister@warchild.name.

The band
(Warchild, Band, 00.00.0000)

Warchild plays hardly definable mixture of thrash, death and black metal.

The band was founded in 1997 by Aleister and Samael. In the beginning there was a lot of personal changes, especially at the drummer's chair.

After long years of composing and rehearsing in the garage the banded began gigging in 2001 koncertovat. in that time the first CD called Krvavá cesta was released.

The band continued gigging till autumn 2002, when the drummer left the band. In the end of 2003 drummer Milhaus, which played with band till 2001, came back.

Line-up of the band changed again in autumn 2004, when Milhaus left the band again because of lack of time. Band began playing with drum machine.

In 2005 the second CD - Looking Back was released. In years 2005 and 2006 band continued woth intense gigging.

In the end of 2006 the band members paused all their concert activities, locked themselves in the rehearsal room and started recording of their new album called Desire & Rage.

During recording of CD Desire & Rage came another personal changes. Bass players Psycho and Nestorat left the band.

Album Desire & Rage was released in the end of 2008 and got a lot of praising and keen reviews. It is still available on CDs and in digital distribution.

In the same time bassist Silentor came in band. In 2009 the band played several gigs and in the middle of the year Silentor left again. The band played next gigs without bass player.

Important changes came in 2010, when experienced drum player, Petr Nožík, came in the band finally and several months later came also bass player Carlos. The band began to work on new gigs and also on new album.

The year 2011 came and with it, regrettably, another personal changes. Carlos had to leave the band because of health issues (long lasting hearing problems). In July Marky left the band too.

But the hard core of the band carried on and worked on new songs for the next record as well as on rehearsing the older song for next gigs. The keyboard won't be in our band anymore, we just had to find the new bass player.

This position was later filled by Janiie and the band was completed once again.

Current band line-up is this:

Aleisterguitars, vocals
Samaelguitars, vocals
Petr Nožíkdrums
Janiiebass guitar, vocals

Aleister
(Warchild, Aleister, 00.00.0000)
When and how did you start to play?
I was into music on the basic school already. I played accordion at first. Later in 1988 I started to play guitar. First classical later electric.

How did you get to Warchild?
We founded Warchild with Samael. We've met somewhere by chance when I moved back from Česká Třebová where I played with the band called Evil II. We both were eager to play so we went into it.

How would you define your music?
I really don't know. Metal plainly, such mixture of black, thrash and death metal. I compose the music according to my actual mood and don't pay attention to fit into some specific metal style.

What are your lyrics about, what's your philosophy?
We donť have any unific philosophy or way of lyrics. Everybody composes his lyrics according to his current idea. What's really important is that every lyrics must contain any message that's worth passing down to our listeners. As for the topics of our lyrics we mostly stumble around religions, history, wars, etc.

In what other bands did you play / still play?
I played in the bands Evil, Evil II, Malström and Phobos.

What music do you listen to?
The old things basically. Megadeth, Kreator, Slayer, Tourniquet, Norther, Haunted, Extreme, Toy Dolls and a lot more.

Marky
(Warchild, Marky, 00.00.0000)
When and how did you start to play?
Sometimes when I was six years old I started to play piano at the basic school of arts. I also tried other instruments but stayed by the piano at last till now.

How did you get to Warchild?
I met Aleister and Jarda at some ball and they were looking for a keyboard player. At the beginning I should only play in a few songs but in the end I stayed in the band.

How would you define your music?
Our style is hard to define. It contains a lot of metal styles.

What are your lyrics about, what's your philosophy?
The lyrics are about a lot of much different things. From the lyrics about war and against the war through satanism to the psychological lyrics of Old Man's Legend.

In what other bands did you play / still play?
Malström and now Warchild. I won't mention the other bands. My participation was obligatory and it definitely wasn't my style.

What music do you listen to?
According to my mood. If you'll write what I'll just remember so for example Extreme, Slayer, Helloween, Edguy, Ozzy Osbourne, Haunted and of course Warchild :-) There's much more but I can't remember now.

Samael
(Warchild, Samael, 00.00.0000)
When and how did you start to play?
At the trainig centre I bought a guitar and started to play. Then it differently packed in, different bands, and finally I ended in Warchild.

How did you get to Warchild?
My previous bands gradually fell apart. I wanted to play a harder music. When I improved my skills a little we started to have jam sessions with Aleister and put together the Warchild.

How would you define your music?
As for music it's a mixture of thrash, black and death metal. I wouldn't categorize it in any way because it steps out of styles and it's impossible to say exactly what style is it.

What are your lyrics about, what's your philosophy?
Anybody brings any lyrics and the band says yes or no. It's not so that anybody could come and force his lyrics through. It's always a matter of discussion. Lyrics always have a deep contents. I've heard the opinion that we are a satanistic band but that's not true. There are only two satanists in the band. It's clear that when Aleister sings Ježíšův pád (Jesus' Fall), has spikes on, has such agressive image, so everybody sorts him as a satanist. But that's not true.

In what other bands did you play / still play?
I played in the bands Zvláštní záznamy, Hell, Antikrist and Malström.

What music do you listen to?
They're tons of it. I don't have any top favourites. I listen mainly to black metal, can hear the fast brutals without keyboards, czech bands and world bands too, I listen to death, thrash too. Mainly old school. I don't like techno and brass band music. Sometimes I listen to classical music, mainly Bach, Kryl and Kopernický. Sometimes hip-hop.

Silentor
(Warchild, Silentor, 00.00.0000)
When and how did you start to play?
Not a long story... About one year ago I began to play classical six string guitar, I never took bass guitar into my hand until I came to Warchild.

How did you get to Warchild?
Guys addressed me during the filming of video for the song Old Man's Legend as swordsman... We played with Aleister several times. Once I asked if we'll go to play again and he said they need a bass player, I accepted with pleasure...

How would you define your music?
Simply: Black/trash metal. Great tuniness, very important part of any musical work for me. Important for the listener as well as for the player himself. Regrettably a lot of metal bands lack it...

What are your lyrics about, what's your philosophy?
I'm just shortly with the band, so I can't answer this question. Everybody has his own opinions about the things just happening or that happened in the past and the music gives the opportunity to pass them on the listeners. It's clear that the lyrics have their effect and the songs have their own stories. Then the playing has purpose - pass the ideas on. That's the thing I seek in all lyrics...

In what other bands did you play / still play?
Warchild and Wild Side...

What music do you listen to?
I listen to various styles, but mainly Metal and Hard Rock... Rock bands: Guns'n'Roses, Def Leppard, Dokken, Velvet Revolver. Metal bands: Megadeth, Hammerfall, Children of Bodom, Black Label Society, and many more...

Psycho
(Warchild, Psycho, 00.00.0000)
When and how did you start to play?
I've listened to a lot of music and then I started to think about active participation. I started to play keyboards. Then I started to sing in Malström. I started to play bassguitar as late as in Warchild.

How did you get to Warchild?
The bassguitarist of Warchild, Jarda, went to England so I was offered to try to play bassguitar in Warchild. So I took the chance.

How would you define your music?
I absolutely refuse sorting in styles. You can't say that Warchild plays black ot thrash or something. Simply Warchild metal.

How satisfied are you with the current music of Warchild
Music is hard, that's good. It's fast. Agressive. It's rich in various elements.

What are your lyrics about, what's your philosophy?
The lyrics are oriented in various ways. The lyrics are oriented variously from politics through wars to religions. It's often said that we have satanistic orientation but only me and Samael concern us with the philosophy of A. S. LaVey. Anyway even this sometimes appears in our lyrics. There's no unific band philosophy.

Why has Warchild such image as it has? Steel, spikes, fire, blood, ...
You don't give only the audio experience to the fans on gigs but also visually it should look good. When you hear hard music on the stage and see there spiked guys it surely looks better than if we'd run around in the Nike or Adidas sweater and act the homos. It simply belongs to the music. In the moment you think completely different, different reality. War-machine called Warchild.

In what other bands did you play / still play?
Altogether only Malström.

What music do you listen to?
I've got quite wide catch. From the things that are quite distant from metal to black metal killers. I don't mind even techno but hate brass band music.

Nestorat
(Warchild, Nestorat, 00.00.0000)
When and how did you start to play?
If I’m not counting my attempts at playing drums or occasional thrumming on borrowed bass guitars, I began to play with Warchild.

How did you get to Warchild?
My elder brother was one of the first Warchild’s drummers and he’d wanted me to play the bass as, at the time, they didn’t have a bassist. So I went to a few rehearsals. I’ve liked the music so, in contrast to my brother, I’ve stayed with Warchild.

How would you define your music?
It’s difficult to explain, but it’s better not to categorize your music. If the music of your band is easy to rank or compare with music of other bands, then it’s lost the originality. And it’s the originality that makes the music so interesting. Our music is original, I think. You can find elements of death, black or thrash metal in it but it’s impossible to categorize it. Something like thrack metal (thrash + black).

How satisfied are you with the current music of Warchild
It’s quite difficult because I’m not an active member of our group now and since the time I’ve been away our music hasn’t been the same. It’s much better. I’ve heard only a few songs but I’ve to say that the drum machine’s reinforced the music a lot. An automatic drummer is better than a lazy drummer…

What are your lyrics about, what's your philosophy?
Our lyrics are about everyday life. We don’t play happy, feel good music. If you give lyrics to the music, it should be interesting otherwise the impression of the music will be spoiled. Our philosophy is different but in one way we all think the same - we don’t drink red wine with wafers…

Why has Warchild such image as it has? Steel, spikes, fire, blood, ...
Because we like it! The hard image belongs to hard music otherwise the impression from our gigs would be contradictory. Our “iron stuff” is just a part of the show, of course. Wearing it in ordinary life is quite unpractical :) At a gig you’ve to know that people cannot only hear you but they can also see you. If you want to improve an impression of your gigs, choreography and moving on a stage are necessary. You don’t go to a gig to watch rubber dummies playing.

In what other bands did you play / still play?
Just Malström, Phobos and Warchild.

What music do you listen to?
It depends on my mood. I can’t keep listening to one style. Moods change, emotions change. I like hard but interesting and emotional music. I listen to a metal music a lot (thrash, black, heavy, speed, doom, gothic, death,…) but sometimes I like just one album or even just a song from a band. I hate stereotyped music. It’s like listening to a house style. It’s boring to write down all bands I like so only a few that I can quickly remember: Bathory, In Flames, At the Gates, Godgory, Bruce Dickinson, Dimmu Borgir, Ancient Rites, Root, Orlik to name a few. Classical music is amazing (Beethowen, Bach, Mozart, Smetana, etc.) I like even songs from pop, pop-rock or rock bands or singers. Hard-core, punk, folk singers (Karel Kryl, ..) as well and more. The most important thing is whether I like the song and if it impresses me than whether the song is from my favorite style of music.
